Delivery
Celebration cakes are fragile things! That’s why free customer collection from the baker’s location is the default on Caketu.
Some bakers may offer free or charged local delivery, but that is entirely up to them, and they set their own charges – check out individual store policies for details of how far they will deliver and how much they charge per mile. If a baker offers delivery to your location, the cost of this (if applicable) will be calculated automatically at checkout from the address you have given – you will then be able to proceed to choose delivery or collection, as you wish.
We may in time offer products by post as an option, for boxed brownies and cookies etc. that can cope with the journey, but this site is designed to connect you with talented bakers in your local area, and so that’s what we’re focusing on currently.
General Care Advice
All products sold on this site are fragile and perishable, and require care and attention when handling, storing, and displaying. We shouldn’t have to say this, but… once you have collected your purchase – you’re responsible for what happens to it!
Neither we at Caketu.com, nor the bakers can accept any responsibility for any damage sustained to products once they’ve been passed into your care. Please see the Terms & Conditions. If the unthinkable does happen – contact the baker for advice, they may be able to offer some suggestions for how to remedy/patch/hide whatever mishap has befallen it. And remember – cakes are for eating – even if you do accidentally damage it, barring a major catastrophe, it should still taste great!
For best results, please refer to storage and transportation instructions provided by your baker, but our general advice is as follows:
- Products should be placed on a flat surface and stored at room temperature in the packaging provided, unless otherwise stated.
- They should be kept out of direct sunlight.
- Freezing or refrigerating is not recommended unless specifically advised.
- Products should be consumed within 2 days.
- We recommend that you do not transport products on a car seat, or lap, as they are rarely level.
- Products should be placed either in the boot or the footwell of the car, ideally on a non-slip mat.
- Extra care should be taken when driving, particularly when cornering, braking, or going over speedbumps!
